When you scroll down to the page, you can see a search box to find a suitable project.
Write any keyword in the search box in which you are interested to do the work. After that, you have to select your skills in the next step. In the job types, you can select fixed price project and you can opt for hourly projects also. The main feature of freelancer.com is their contest section. Contests are very good for beginners to showcase their skills in front of potential employers.
When you click on More Options button, you can further filter out your interesting projects.
There is an option of Listing Types to select particular projects as per your demand.
Meaning of various listing types:
Featured: Featured projects are listed on the prominently on the homepage. These type of projects appears with the Featured icon next to the title of the projects.
Sealed: Sealed option is specifically for contests. All the bids of freelancers in Sealed contests are only visible to the contest holder. This option is provided for the high-quality entries.
Full-Time: A full-time projects are for hiring freelancers on full-time basis or commission based positions.
Urgent: Urgent projects are listed on the top of the list and receive faster responses from freelancers to help get their projects started within 24 hours.
Qualified: To bid on these type of projects, employers required their freelancers to be qualified in a certain course to get their projects completed as per their demand.
NDA: Freelancer must agree to NDA before placing a bid on these type of projects. Once you are agreed on NDA, you cannot disclose any information regarding projects to the public.
Guaranteed: This option is for contest providers. Guaranteed contest means the employer will surely pick a winner. In any case the Guaranteed contest is not awarded after 30 days of closing date, the prize money will then be automatically distributed among the qualified participants.
Highlight: You can opt this option to see the highlighted entries from the various freelancers on the contest and projects.
Top Contest: These type of contests require high-quality entries and therefore experienced freelancers will be invited by the employer.
Local Jobs: You can search and bid on projects which are nearby to your area.
Next option is to select your language as per your requirement. And also you can select a location to find local jobs.
After writing all search details, you can see various projects and contests listed below.
As you can see, The title and short description of the contest is written on the left. A number of bids/Entries, Starting time and price to be awarded is also listed.
You can click on any title as per your skills and interest and then you will be redirected to the new page for more details about the projects.
Read all the details of the project and understand what exactly employer’s demands are there. Once you understand it and ready to do the project successfully then click on button “Bid on This Project”.
Write down your appropriate bid price paid to you by the employer of this project. In next option, select the number of days to deliver the project. You can also see freelancer project fee and it will be deducted from your payment once you are selected and delivered a project to the employer.
Now click on a button “Place Bid”.
When you click on Place Bid button, you will see this pop up to sponsor your bid for $3.99 and your bid will be displayed on the top of the bidders. If you are not interested then simply click on No, thanks.
After that, you have to write down your proposal to the employer to convince them that you are the correct freelancer for this project. This is the same option as if you are giving written interview for the job.
Next, you have to write down your skills and experience related to the project. You can also paste your links of your portfolio to showcase your talent to the employer.
In this step, you can set milestones. A milestone is a good option for big projects and you can request your employer for certain percentage of the work done. For example, you can ask your employer for AUD10 when you complete 30% of the work and remaining 70% after the completion of the work. Once you have defined your milestones then you can click on “Update” button and your proposal will be sent to the employer.
Now, you have successfully placed a bid on the project in which you have great skills. You will be notified by freelancer.com when your employer for this project will select you. Your employer may send you Private message for further clarification about the project.
